The M8 Alliance has announced that Makerere University will host the 2020 African Regional World Health summit slated for 2020.
M8 Alliance which is a collaborative network of academic institutions known for educational and research excellence consists of 17 members of which Makerere University is the only African University part of this initiative. The institution has therefore been chosen to host the first ever African Health summit which will take place in 2020.
Through an official facebook post made on Saturday, Prof. Barnabus Nawangwe informed the public of this new development.
“The M8 Alliance has announced Makerere as the winner of the bid to host the African Regional World Health Summit 2020 – The first in Africa. I congratulate our committed staff and Makerere University College of Health Sciences for the job well done,” revealed Nawangwe on his Facebook page.
Other members of the M8 Alliance include John Hopkins Bloomberg, School of Public Health in USA, Imperial College London, and Monash University among others. This alliance is committed towards improving global health and provision of science-based solutions to health challenges worldwide.
