Makerere university has emerged as champions of the 2021 inter-university debate on tax justice. In a dog-eat-dog final, Makerere university knocked down her counterpart Mbarara university to emerge as overall champions.
The motion for the final was ‘this house believes there is no obligation to pay unjust and unfair taxes.’
Having defeated Gulu university in the semifinals, Makerere took on Mbarara university, that had beaten Kyambogo university, beating her pants down.
The inter-university debate tournament was organized by the debate society Uganda. This year’s theme was using tax as a tool to address challenges of the youth.
This year’s tournament was graced by Gulu university. Mbarara university, Makerere university, Kyambogo university, Uganda Christian University, Makerere business school among others.
