Makerere University’s guild league, a tournament that features all guild houses, returned with its season two on September 10th, 2023.
The second season of the Makerere guild league was launched at an opening ceremony held at Makerere rugby grounds (Impis/graveyard). The ceremony was graced by David Katende the deputy secretary general at National Council For Sports.
Day one featured six matches among the different guild houses and the 87th guild topped the table by the end of the day.
The 87th drew with the 85th and won the 86th to earn themselves 4 points, one point ahead of the 80th guild that came second on the table.
In other opening games, Maseruka Robert’s 89th team lost to Margaret Nattabi’s 88th, 80th won the 83rd, 82nd lost to 84th while the 81st and 79th drew.
Makerere University guild league season one was launched last year and ended last semester. The new season will run till the next semester as well.
The guild league combines all guild houses at Makerere University and teams are required to pay a subscription fee to the league in order to participate.
Each team is given an exception of signing at least two players that were not members of the Guild Representative Council.
