Makerere University hospital has launched a Reproductive Tract Infections (RTI) information centre and mobile app to enable the public and Makerere University community learn more about RTIs.
The app, part of the hospital’s corporate social responsibility, was launched on Friday, May 3rd, 2024 at Makerere University Hospital.
The Mak-RTI app can be downloaded on Google play store for android users while works are still underway to make it available for IOS users as well.
Besides the app and information centre, Makerere University will run an RTI clinic every Monday to assist those seeking treatment on RTIs.
The app and information centre were launched by Prof. Damalie Nakanjako principal College of Health Sciences (CHS). She said the app is a result of research done by CHS through funding from the government of Uganda.
Prof. Josaphat Byamugisha the Director Makerere University Hospital, said the Mak RTI app will increase awareness on RTIs.
“We developed the app mainly to help the public access information about these infections. We feel this information should reach many people and that is why we found it wise to have this center (Mak RTI center),” he said.
According to Mr. Juma Katongole, principal information systems administrator at DICTS, the Mak-RTI is part of the university digitization agenda.

Users of the app will have access to Reproductive Tract Health services and other services offered at the University Hospital.
On the app, users will be able to directly engage with Doctors, and where need be, call an ambulance in case of an emergency.
