Marystaurt Hall has been handed over to Makerere University management after being renovated. The hall was handed over on July 25th, 2025.
The renovation, which began on July 26th, 2024, lasting for a full year, cost about UGX 10.5 billion.
The Hall has been equipped with modern bathing facilities, lighting and finishing. Worth noting is that the elevator of the tallest building in the university has been fixed.
“Inside the newly renovated Mary Stuart Hall, elevators are operational once again—restored with modern technology after 50 years of inactivity,” Nawangwe said.

Speaking at the hand over event, Prof. Barnabas urged students to maintain the facility the way it has been handed over.
NEC will now begin renovation works at Complex Hall which are expected to last for a year. During the renovation, residents of Complex hall will occupy Lumumba Hall.
