Makerere University has, in a bid to ease access, resorted to using automated gates with three access points set up at different entry locations.
Students are now required to register with Samanga Solutions Limited a company contracted to manage traffic flow at the university in order to get an electronic pass.
The automated access points are Makerere main gate, western and eastern gate. Students will register for automated access from September 1st to September 16th.
The development was announced by the Dean of students Ms. Winfred Kabumbuli in her letter dated September 6th, 2023.
Previously, Makerere University had employed people to man the different entry points. Students were required to identify themselves in order to have the gates opened for them while non students were issued receipts and paid about UgX 3000 Shillings for parking.
