The National Resistance Movement (NRM) is set to host a delegates’ conference to elect flag bearers to run for youth members of parliament for the various regions and the position of National Female Youth MP.
Among those eyeing the NRM flag for Western Youth MP is Makerere University’s speaker emeritus, Ezra Byakutangaza, who doubles as the 31st president of the Uganda National Students Association (UNSA).
Ezra also served as a UNSA representative to the National Youth Council. He says each of these leadership roles has shaped him and given him a clear voice that speaks to the struggles, hopes, and dreams of Uganda’s youth.
“Each of these roles has shaped me deeply. They have nurtured my spirit, sharpened my resolve, and given me a clear voice that speaks to the struggles, hopes, and dreams of Uganda’s youth. I am not just aware of the challenges we face; I am well-exposed to them, and I am ready to take on the responsibility to be that voice in Parliament,” he says.
His manifesto focuses on youth employment and skilling, youth participation in politics and decision making, affordable capital for youth-led initiatives, and regional integration.
“As an aspiring leader, engaging and empowering youth in the processes of regional integration will be essential for ensuring long-term, sustainable development and fostering stronger cross-border cooperation in Africa,” he says.
On August 25th, 2025, NRM delegates will elect flag bearers to represent the party in the forthcoming national youth elections. Ezra requests NRM delegates to journey with him as he advocates to change the lives of youth in Western Uganda and Uganda at large.
“I’m asking not just for your vote but for us to stand together as partners in this journey. Together, let’s choose the leadership that truly represents us and make the change we deserve.”
