The Vice chairperson of National Planning Authority(NPA) and head of President’s appointed MAK Visitation Committee, Dr Abel Rwandeire has this morning succumbed to a heart attack as he was being rushed to Nakasero Hospital for treatment.
According to sources close to the deceased’s family, he has been battling heart related health problems for quite some time.
“He came to office yesterday. He greeted everybody with a smile and picked some files. Little did we know that we were seeing him for the last time. It’s sad that he is dead,” Dr Kisamba Mugerwa, the NPA chairman said.
Rwandeire was appointed to head the 9 member Makerere Visitation Committee last year in November after the University was indefinitely closed. The committee was then tasked to file a report that will bring to front the issues that were stirring up students’ and staff strikes.
His death comes before the expected report is compiled to the maximum expectations of the President and Public at large.
May his souls rest in eternal peace.
