During a Guild Representatives’ meeting that was held last Friday, the 84th Guild Government elected this year’s electoral commission which will be responsible for organizing the 2019 guild elections. The newly elected electoral commission is led by Ssekindi Faizol as the chairperson.
While speaking to Campus Bee shortly after the election, the university’s information minister, Kato Martins was excited to reveal that he was appointed as the EC Public Relations officer/spokesperson. “I was elected as the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Electoral Commission of Makerere University. I thank all honorable members of the August house who stood up with me at all costs.” Kato said.
The commission was voted few weeks after the Makerere University administration had passed new regulations to be followed during this year’s electoral process among which include banning of rallies from halls of residence, a decision that was followed by mixed reactions from students.
Below is the list of the newly elected electoral commission members together with their positions;

Vice Chairperson – Nuwagaba Ayebare Agatha
General Secretary – Kiiza Godfrey
Finance – Nkesiga Duncan
