His Highness – Emil Zola Kamanda , a Makerere University alumnus, was last week crowned King in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
He now stands tall as King of the Mbuti, a native tribe in DRC.
HH Zola attained his undergraduate studies at Makerere University where he did Art in the times around 2019.
He also studied at Busoga College Mwiri between 2012 and 2014 where he resided in Waako House, a dormitory at the school.
Zola was recognized by Non-Government Organization (NGO) – Building Safe Spaces for his artistry during the Digital Campaign for Tolerance in commemoration of the International Day for Tolerance on 16th November, 2019.

In this recognition, Zola created an art piece to inspire students at Makerere University then, to adopt non-violent means of conflict resolution with the government of Uganda on the issue of tuition fee increment.
His art was a depiction of tolerance in hardship and the ability to solve problems through peaceful means.
About the Mbuti tribe
The Mbuti people, or Bambuti, are one of several indigenous pygmy groups in the Congo region of Africa. Their languages are Central Sudanic languages and Bantu languages.
They are pygmy hunter-gatherers, and are one of the oldest indigenous people of the Congo region of Africa.
