A monument in commemoration of Makerere University’s 100 years of existence has been unveiled.
The beautiful monument that sits at the face of the Makerere freedom square was unveiled by HE: Yoweri Museveni on October 6th.
President Museveni, who cut the ribbon for the Makerere centennial celebrations last year on October 9th, officiated the Makerere University final centennial celebrations.
Speaking at the ceremony, Thomas Tayebwa (Deputy speaker of parliament) and Don Wanyama (CEO New Vision) said Makerere University gave them an opportunity to come to Kampala in pursuit for knowledge.
Makerere University was established in 1922, first as a technical school, and today marks 100 years of its existence.
Makerere University prides in many things, but above all transforming society, from which the centennial theme ‘leveraging 100 years of excellence in building a transformed society’ is derived.
