Makerere University is currently under a transition stage as far students’ leadership is concerned.
Earlier this month, the Dean of Students dissolved the 88th Guild cabinet that was under the stewardship of H.E Alionzi Lawrence Dangote.
This was after the successful selection of the 89th Guild Electoral Commission that marked the beginning of a new era.
At the moment, the instituted commission, together with the office of the Dean of students is overseeing the Guild activities around the hill.
Ever since the dissolution, the outgoing Guild President has come out to express his heartfelt gratitude to the university community for the opportunity rendered to him and the entire cohort.
Mr. Alionzi has been in service for around three months given the delay that halted the electoral process attributed to last year’s chaos.
In his appreciation post on Twitter, H.E Alionzi had this to jot;
“I know no greater honor than serving you as the 88th Guild President of Makerere University. Thank you Gallant Makerereans for your trust and faith in us, your patience, positive criticism and support.”
The 88th Guild government will be credited for its efficiency in fostering student centered engagement activities regardless of the shrunken timeframe in service.
Makerere University’s new electoral commission is yet to publicize a roadmap to the polls that will breed Alionzi’s successor.
