Edson Rugumayo, a student of Quantity Surveying at Makerere University has won the western region Youth MP primary in the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).
Mr. Rugumayo polled a total of 199 votes accounting for 31.8% of the vote and his closest rival Mr. Patrick Mwesigye polled 109 votes, some 17.4%.

Hailing from Ntoroko District, to the end of Tooro Region, Rugumayo traversed all districts in western Uganda courting representative youths on district councils to vote for him.
He polled an all time high 17 votes from his home district and left his competitors to share the remaining zero. In Kasese, he bagged 10 of the 11 votes available in the district.
Rugumayo has been the District Youth Chairman of Ntoroko and the Secretary for International Relations on the Executive Committee of the National Youth Council (NYC).
