The Minister of Education and sports Honourable Janet Museveni has appointed three members to Busitema University senate.
The three will represent government on Busitema University’s top governing body for the next three years.
These include Professor Maria Musoke (deputy Vice Chancellor academic affairs Kyambogo University), Professor John Robert Tabuti (Vice Chancellor Busoga University) and Associate Professor Anabella Habinka (lecturer at Mbarara University).
The trio will replace Professor Barnabas Nawangwe, Professor David Kabaasa and Professor Florence D’ujang who have served as government representatives on Busitema University’s senate for the past six years.
In its composition, the Senate is meant to have three government representatives appointed by the minister in charge.
Section 44(2)(i) of the University and other tertiary institutions act dictates that; three persons who are capable of contributing to the academic and social development of the university appointed by the minister from the public.
These serve as government representatives for three years and are eligible for re-appointment for another term.
Therefore, the newly appointed government representatives on Busitema University’s senate will serve up to 2025.
