Yesterday evening, Makerere University community received exciting news about the appointment of their own Associate Professor Peter Waiswa on the World Health Organization (WHO) Advisory group.
Prof Waiswa lectures Health Policy Planning and Management at the School of Public Health, Makerere University. He trained in medicine and Public Health at Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) and Hebrew University, Israel respectively.
He holds a PhD both from a partnership between Makerere University and Karolinska Institutet, Sweden.
He has been part of many strategic policies and initiatives especially in the areas of maternal, newborn and child health. He is a leading African academic with over one hundred publications including books.
World wide, Dr. Waiswa has participated regularly in an adversary role to WHO, UNICEF, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, International Pediatric Association, East African Community, African Academy of Sciences, among others.
