Makerere University promising talent Bukenya Sharic aka Qif Switch has released a brand new song titled Kwekaza. Qif Switch, 20, is a second year student at Makerere University pursuing a Bachelor of Social Sciences. The singer told the Bee that he was inspired by Bobi Wine and Eddy Kenzo to dive into the music industry.
Academically speaking, Bukenya revealed that he hails from Buikwe District who went to Bosmo Junior School for primary education and later joined Janan SSS Bambo for O’level. He also studied from Forest Hill College Mukono before joining Makerere University.
The singer, who is giving 50-50 to music and studies is currently signed under Didimix Records. Qif Switch started his music career this year with his first tune dubbed Bwetuti.
“I am currently a Makerere student in second year doing Bachelor’s of Social Sciences and as well running my music career. I always give 50 to books and 50 to my music. I’m signed under a music label called Didimix Records which is currently supporting me in my career.” Qif Switch told this website.
“I wanna do music to inspire youths in my nation and Africa worldwide. Through my songs I know I will make this dream come true. I also what my music career to create a bridge into another career connecting with my course am studying .” He added.
The singer plans to work with big organisations in a bid to connect his singing career with his profession, which he believes will develop fellow youths.
“I am looking at working with different organisations to develop youths such as UN, Red cross and so many others. My advise to fellow students is that let’s keep the spirit of patriotism , let’s love our country, let’s love our languages, and let’s not give up on our talents.” Qif Switch advised.
