Makerere University students are set to go to the polls next Thursday to elect their 90th guild president and guild representative councillors that will represent them for the next two semesters.
The College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES) has set its eyes on a one Muhammadi Mukwaya, a guild presidential aspirant in the ongoing 90th guild race as its saviour.
CAES has not produced a guild president in over 70 years and its only hope in the 89th election was cut short following the disqualification of Margaret Nattabi. The college has now fully endorsed Muhammadi Mukwaya and promised to give him its all to ensure that he wins the Thursday race.
In a letter seen by this publication, aspiring leaders and elders of the college say he is a ‘true son’ of the college and his works speak for themselves.
“H.E Mukwaya Muhammadi is a true son of this university and his works speak for themselves. From being a speaker at the School of Agricultural Sciences to a GRC who doubled as the 89th Leader of Opposition, he is definitely the right man for the job,” the letter reads in part.
The leaders and elders continue to say that it is their duty to support Mukwaya with one accord and bring great glory to CAES. Mukwaya is one of the 16 aspirants that are eyeing the Makerere University guild presidential seat. Mukwaya has been serving as the 89th Leader of Opposition and he is looking forward to succeeding the man he has been opposing in the guild house.
