MakGuildRace: EC Releases Elections Roadmap

Makerere University 88th guild electoral commission has released the roadmap for this year’s guild and GRC elections.

The roadmap was released at a press conference held on Monday June 27th, 2022 at the guild offices.

As per the road map, guild presidential nominations will run from Monday 27th to Wednesday 29th June 2022.

There are some adjustments such as the election date which has been shifted from July 8th to July 15th 2022.

The GRC elections will be held on 27th July 2022.

The roadmap has been released at a time when NUP guild presidential aspirants are facing a suspension.

On whether the electoral commission will extend the nomination deadline to consider those on suspension – that’s if their suspensions are recalled, Kiggundu Muhammed, the secretary to the electoral commission said they don’t have any time extension in plan.

Makerere University students will go to the polls next month to decide who their next guild president will be.

The incoming guild president will takeover office from NUP’s Shamim Nambassa.
