The political heat is rising at Uganda’s premier university as Guild elections close in.
With the increased need to change the status quo, Makerere University Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) chapter is working tooth and nail to paint the hill purple.
The Chapter executive regrouped yesterday and made a vital move towards the electoral process by fronting a candidate they believe will represent the faction.
A one Isaiah Mpiirwomugisha was confirmed as the ANT flag bearer in the forthcoming Guild Presidential race.
Isaiah’s endorsement was confirmed on 27th June, 2022, by the Chapter’s Speaker, Omaria Emma Oitebe.
“In reference to the chapter letter dated 24th June 2022 inviting all interested chapter members to apply for the chapter primaries through which our flag bearer will be decided, it is only Mpiirwomugisha Isaiah, a third year student of Bachelor of science in land economics from the school of built environment, College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT) and a resident of University Hall who fulfilled the requirements as per the Makerere guild election regulations of 2018 as amended, Therefore he will be the party flag bearer for the forthcoming guild election,” Oitebe revealed.
Isaiah Mpiirwomugisha was a no surprise pick for his party as he has been a long serving member to ANT in and out of Makerere University.
Isaiah brings with him wealth of political experience to the race having participated in the 2021 General elections as a Parliamentary contestant.
Makerere University is set to hold this year’s Guild Presidential elections in a matter of days (July 8) and different camps are startegizing on how to grab victory.
Makerere University ANT Chapter has thus found a ploy in Isaiah to bring victory to the ‘purple party.’
