Makerere University National Unity Platform (NUP) chapter has elected a flag bearer ahead of the 88th guild elections.
The chapter went to the polls on Wednesday July 6th, 2022, and its delegates voted Alionzi Lawrence as the party’s flag bearer in the forthcoming guild elections.
Alionzi emerged victorious in a bated breath race winning his closet opponent Natseli Godfrey with a range of two votes.
Alionzi garnered 28 votes, Natseli (first runner up) got 26 votes while Genza Godfrey settled for the third position with only 6 votes casted in his favour.
Northcotes’ Alionzi will represent the National Unity Platform in the 88th guild race.
However, Northcote is yet to decide who its sole candidate will be between Alionzi Lawrence and Justus Tukamushaba.
National Unity Platform’s candidates have for the past three elections emerged victorious in Makerere’s guild race.
Whether this status quo remains or not is subject to the decision Makerere University students will make on Friday July 15th, 2020 as they vote for their next guild president.
