Scores sustained injuries as NRM and National Unity Platform supporters clashed on Monday July 11th, 2022.
The two conflicted as National Unity Platform’s supporters tried to pass via Lumumba hall where NRM’s flag bearer Hussein Ibra resides.
According to eye witnesses, Lumumba hall residents who were in possession of sticks, beat NUP supporters leaving quite a number of them injured.
By press time the number of injured students hadn’t been ascertained.
However, some NRM members who preferred anonymity revealed to the Bee that NUP began the attack on them.
These added that NUP acted in a very daring manner by using their hall premises for its campaigns.
As per the guild electoral roadmap, guild aspirants had to attend a rally at the university’s main pitch (teargas arena) at the time of the incident.
Makerere University students will vote for their next guild president on Friday July 15th, 2022.
