MAK’s Prof Nawangwe Given Outstanding Personality Award

During their end of year party that was held  last Friday 14^th December at the Senior Staff canteen, the Makerere University Academic Staff Association(MUASA) awarded outstanding members and key stakeholders for supporting its agenda and activities.

Among the recognised was the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe  who was given the outstanding personality award  for supporting MUASA activities. The excited Nawangwe shared the good news via his social media platforms as he thanked the MUASA team.

“I am honored by the Award given to me by MUASA this afternoon in recognition of my service to the association. Together we can move our University even higher.” Nawangwe wrote.

 Prof. William Bazeyo,the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Finance and Administration) was also recognised for the excellent service as the most globally decorated member for the Year 2018.

Other top staff members who also received awards include; Dr. Sarah Ssali as the most active senior female MUASA member, Dr. Paddy Musana as the most long serving male  MUASA member, Dr.Alice Merab Kagoda as the female long-serving member, and Mr. Keith Muhakanizi who was awarded for supporting higher education in Uganda.

While receiving the award, Dr. Kagoda advised all staff members to work hard just like her.  “I urge all of you to emulate me and work hard for the betterment of both MUASAand Makerere University.” Kagoda said.

Ms. Lilian Mbabazi received an award in recognition of the young star that is supportive of  MUASA activities.

During the end of year party, Dr. Deus Kamunyu Muhwezi, the MUASA Chairperson appreciated the members for their cooperation and advised them to continue working hard to ensure that students at Makerere University get high quality education.

“Our children must have the best education and that is why we must work hand in hand with the Vice Chancellor, Principals, Deans and Heads of Department to produce the best graduates worldwide,” Dr. Kamunyu said.
