Makerere University students on Thursday afternoon nearly traded blows at the campus health centre which is conducting the Health Week at the Nakawa based campus.
The students, who reported last week attribute the fracas to the scarce condoms in hostels. “We have conjugal duties to fulfill on Valentine’s day and condoms are scarce in our hostels. This is the only opportunity for us for to secure a full box but some students want to carry more than two box—as if they are sex machines,” an outraged student who decline to tell this reporter his names and course remarked.
The students were seen struggling to pick up at least two boxes which compelled others to use their muscle power to push and beat others to the boxes of white and red condoms.
A condom like Protector and Life Guard in shops around Kataza, Nakawa goes for shs1500 whereas other brands like Rough Rider, O cost between shs2,000-5,000.
“This is a sign that our students are practising safe sex to prevent the spread of HIV and other STIs. Our students are healthy—we are proud,” a nurse from the MUBS health centre lamented.
The students are gearing up for the much hyped up Valentine’s day, a day they all seem to be assured of getting laid.
Meanwhile, other male students were seen queuing up for circumcision. “I know I am going to take leave from girls for almost two months but I ,must endure to remove off my foreskin so that I become clean,” Lawrence Arinaitwe, second year International Business Student told Campusbee.
The health camp also involves blood donation, HIV testing and counselling.
