Students of Mbarara University of Science And Technology have today morning, gone on strike that kick-started in the morning- leaving the University in havoc.

The strike comes after MUST implemented new examination policy this academic year 2017/2018 that doesn’t allow the sick, the pregnant, students, one that has lost a relative or become sick to get a special exam. That results into retakes hence a dead year.
The policies such as getting a re-take due to failure of 15% of one’s course units, and as well a certificate of due performance not being awarded sparked off the strike. In close interaction between our reporter and some of the students, this what they had to say; “The policy doesn’t favour students and so far we have seen some students droupout. The top administration should amend that article to favour the students but not making their education even harder,” Enan, a Mbarara university student, said.
“This policy is stressing all students. The administration should revise it. We are being psychologically tortured.” said Chelangat Vicky.
