The Federation of African Medical Students’ Associations (FAMSA) is the official umbrella body for all African medical students and it always carries out annual general assemblies which are held within different African partnering countries.
It is by far the largest congregation of African Healthcare students and workforce; bringing together Health professionals,trainees and trainers across the continent and beyond.
The medical students of Mbarara university of Science and Technology through their joint body- Mbarara University Medical Students’ Association (MBUMSA) have the privilege to host the 34th FAMSA general assembly and Scientific conference for this year following all COVID-19 SOPs which will have both the physical and virtual attendance.
The 3-day event is slated to take place in the land of milk and honey (Mbarara) from 25th-27th of February 2021 at Igongo Cultural Center. This will host over 1000 delegates not just from Africa, but all over the world.
This year’s conference theme is to stimulate, identify and promote novel, innovative and feasible technologies for Health by African medical students that are responsive to pandemics and aimed at accelerating long-lasting improvements in critical health indicators for rural populations South of Sahara Desert.
The conference shall be made up of plenary sessions, keynote speeches, workshops, exhibitions, research presentations and all this is key towards giving medical students and other healthcare students skills that they can use to embrace technology to work on health problems in Africa especially in the rural areas of the continent.
In addition to all this, different speakers from different organizations like World Health Organization (WHO), Ministry of health, Seed global health and many more in and out of Uganda shall take part in the panel discussions.
