The Media Challenge Initiative held its 2023 award crowning ceremony on Friday, December 15th, 2023.
Various media practitioners and journalism students walked away with different prizes for their outstanding journalistic work and excellent performance in the media challenge competition 2023.
Among the students that walked away with awards was Makerere University’s stunning Ritah Rose Kalendera, a very promising young journalism student.
Kalendera, a second year student of journalism and communication, emerged as the best English live reporter for the year 2023.
She brought home Makerere University’s only award from this year’s competition.
Victoria University bagged five awards; best English news producer, best English and luganda public service reporter, best English migration reporter and best English gender reporter.
Uganda Christian University (UCU) won the award for best English TV news anchor (male), best radio presenter (female), best luganda producer and best radio team.
Former NTV reporter John Cliff Wamala was recognised as the outstanding communication and PR practitioner alumnus, NBS’s Francis Isano took the recognition for outstanding photographer 2023 while NTV’s Sandrah Kahunuza Twinoburyo emerges best broadcaster 2023.
