The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) has expressed excitement following a report issued by health experts from the East African Community (EAC).
The report has recommended IUIU – Habib Medical School at Kampala Campus to continue offering medical programs for meeting minimum requirements.
The institution has hailed the development and says it is worth cherishing.
“IUIU Habib Medical School given green light to train medical students as six others Medical Schools in Uganda suspended over failure to meet minimum requirements at recent inspection report from East African Community Joint team of Health experts,” a statement on the institution’s Facebook page reads.
“Yet another call for celebration to the IUIU fraternity,” the statement further reads.
The Medical Inspection report says IUIU- Habib Medical School meets the requirements.
“Islamic University in Uganda (Habib School of Medicine) meets the necessary minimum requirements for training medical students,” reads part of the report.
The report ordered Uganda Christian University (UCU), St Augustine International University and Busitema University among others to stop admitting students for medicine and dentistry courses for lack of appropriate infrastructure.
The institutions were asked to distribute students already admitted on the programmes to other universities with the requisite infrastructure until they satisfy the minimum standards to teach the courses.
