Ahead of the Makerere University College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES) students’ council elections slated for Monday, 20th December 2021, a number of students have picked interest in several leadership roles.

Ahimid Rabbeca, a first-year student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Horticulture is aspiring to become the next CAES speaker ahead of the mentioned elections. With the slogan ‘A voice that counts’, the fired-up Ahimid has promised to focus on solving students’ problems.

Just like any Science student, Ahimid believes that every scholar has a right to a clean environment. Among other plans, the aspiring CAES speaker hopes to issue comprehensive information about sexuality and reproductive health rights, including information on contraceptives, relationships, HIV and STDs, sexual and gender-based violence, consent and sexual pleasure.

According to Ahimid’s manifesto, the passionate leader is ready to solve students’ challenges like delayed marks, missing marks, unnecessary retakes, among others.

“Unity within and among the three schools; we need to make a more concrete effort to build relationships based on mutual support and respect between all students at CAES , foster knowledge and stand in solidarity on issues directly affecting us.” Ahimid’s manifesto reads in part.

Campus Bee understands that Ahimid has already cleared the UGX 120,000 nomination fee ahead of the highly anticipated CAES students’ council elections. Ekwire Jasper is the current CAES speaker, who is set to hand over power next week.
