According to statistics from Uganda Bureau of Statistics, the Eastern Region in Uganda has the highest illiterate population. The statistics show that 70% of Uganda’s population was literate, with males dominating the females.
As Ugandans are still finding a challenge to attain access to higher education, many good Samaritans have come up to bridge the gap of illiterates and literates despite the little resources they possess.
Dr. Ibembe Patrick is one of those who have sacrificed the little they have to extend supportive services to academically talented but financially constrained students in Busoga region.
Starting with students at his former school Busoga College Mwiri, Dr. Ibembe, has offered scholarships to the best students to join Makerere University so that they can pursue a course of their own.
Dr Ibembe in his capacity as the chairperson of Makerere Mwiri Old Boys’ Association, has provided a linkage between Makerere University and students in Eastern Uganda by empowering them to attain quality higher education. These are given scholastic materials to aid their studies and mentoring sessions to guide their study.
In other capacities, Dr. Ibembe is a leading authority in the world on VIP Administration and Management.
