When Olivia Uwimaana made her way to Makerere University to pick her transcript, little did she know that she would make history of its own kind.
The University had made a promise to issue out transcripts to graduands of the 74th congregation ahead of the ceremony. This promise was followed by manifestation when the administration started issuing out the transcripts in the third week of January this year.
This was just the moment when Olivia, in the flesh of anticipation and excitement, made strides towards the Academic Registrar’s block to finally get her precious transcript in her hands. In turned out, she was the first finalist to get ahold of the transcript way before graduation in modern times.
Today, she stands tall among the thousands that have graduated at Uganda’s premier institution. She graduated with a software engineering degree today (Wednesday).
On record, she has been an intern with DICTS (Directorate For ICT Support) at the institution and has been involved in a number of projects like the Makerere University Hospital System among others.
For the transcript-beneficiaries like Olivia, the timely issuance of transcripts not only acknowledges their efforts but also provides them with tangible proof of their academic accomplishments, which can be invaluable for job applications and academic advancement.
