Social media apps Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram were temporarily down yesterday evening (October 4th) till close to midnight. Many were caught off-guard but a one @sourceGarland wasn’t.
A Ugandan tweep @sourceGarland (tweeter handle) has been trending on tweeter as tweeps tasked him to explain if he is a wizard or a prophet.
One curious tweep went an extra mile and asked if @sourceGarland was a son to the popular Ugandan based pastor Kayanjja.
Source Garland went to his tweeter two days back and said WhatsApp will be off in two days. “whatsapp will be off in 2 days.” he tweeted on 2nd October 2021.
Shockingly, the unbelievable did happen as Facebook and her sister media social apps whatsapp and Instagram went off two days later on October 4th. Just as @sourceGarland had predicted. So it wasn’t mere talk, was it? Or it was perhaps coincidenntal.
Some tweeps have jokingly called for the arrest of the ‘magical’ tweep @sourceGarland so as to attain a bit of explaining on all this.
By press time, the ‘question-marked’ tweep was still silent about the whole matter.
The temporary shut down of Whatsapp, Facebook and Instagram affected quite a number of students as they couldn’t communicate amongst themselves; with many being forced to join the bird marked Tweeter in order to follow-up on friends. Tweeter is one of the social applications that many resorted to as they waited for whatsapp to be restored.
Since the temporary shutdown of whatsapp, students and Ugandans at large have been sharing ideas on which social media applications to join just incase the bad so does happen again and whatsapp shutsdown.
