The students had recently traveled to Harvard University for a three-day debate World School’s Debate Championships.
The debate is an annual English-Language debating tournament for the High School level teams which Mengo qualified for after winning the national rounds in 2016 after it beat Mbarara High School in the finals.
The debate team represented Uganda, but however failed to qualify for the quarter-finals after it recorded two wins in two rounds and 3 losses for their school in the competition.
This is the third time since 1988 that Uganda has participated in the competition and the teams have never carried any trophies home.
