The reigning Miss Kyambogo University, Angel Akullo, most preferably known as ‘Face of Kyambogo’ has kick-started a philanthropic initiative against cancer by visiting and donating a set of items at Bless a Child foundation.
Bless a child foundation is an organization that takes care of children between 3-19 years suffering from cancer, providing them with food, accommodation and treatment.
These items that were donated were solicited from the students’ community of Kyambogo University with the core objective of assisting those in need.
Akullo, with a team of 10 other Kyambogo University students visited the foundation and donated a set of items including soft drinks, clothes, shoes and loaves of bread. They also interacted with the children suffering from cancer so as to signal their support and unison with them.
“It makes no sense for me to retain the title of ‘Miss Kyambogo University’ and yet there are people suffering out there with different cancer infections. The will to give has therefore inspired me to organize and donate to this foundation,” said Akullo.
Angel Akullo was selected as the ‘Miss Kyambogo University’ in November 2017. She beat 7 other contestants to this throne in a tightly contested race. She is yet to hand over this crown in January, 2019 when the next beauty pageant will be held.
