Final contestants in the 2023 miss tourism beauty pageant were unveiled on Saturday August 12th ahead of their boot camp.
The girls from the different regions were unveiled at an event held at Serena hotel and are headed for their boot camp.
Some of the girls that were unveiled will be eliminated during the camp and the remaining contestants will battle at the grand finale on September 9th for the Miss Tourism 2023 crown.
The 2023 miss tourism pageant is centred on the theme ‘greening tourism’ and all contestants presented their different ideas through which they intend to actualise this year’s theme.
Juliet Angeyo, a beauty queen from Northern Uganda and student at MUBS said she will green tourism by organising annual campaigns about environmental conservation.
“I will green tourism by organising annual campaigns about environmental conservation like the “Save the Green Campaign” in Schools and Universities and the Annual Green Life Symposium. Durian the campaigns, issues of wetland, forest conservation will always be addressed,” she said.
Speaking at the unveiling, miss tourism 2022/23 Queen Nabulya Sydney encouraged all the girls not to give up on their dreams. Sydney also trashed the allegations that the pageant is meant for a certain set of girls.
“Miss Tourism is not about colour or size. Let no one lie to you to stop you from pushing for your dreams,” she said.
During the unveiling, the portal to vote for miss popularity was also opened. However, the organisers of the pageant reminded the contestants that being voted as miss popularity doesn’t necessarily make them miss tourism but only secures them a slot among the final five contestants.
The 2023 miss tourism queen will win herself a land tittle and a fully facilitated trip abroad among other benefits that come with the crown.
The current miss tourism Sydney Nabulya who also doubles as miss popularity hails from Buganda. September 9th will decide whether Buganda takes the crown again or loses it to a different region.
