Contrary to most media reports that Miss Uganda, Leah Kalanguka is among the top 10 Miss World contestants, Leah, who’s also a student from Makerere University (set to graduate in January 2015), is not even among the top 20 contestants in the Miss World beauty pageant. Websites and reputable media houses earlier reported that Daily Mail had named Kalanguka among the top 10 contestants.
The truth is, Daily Mail was simply listing the contestants in Miss World beauty pageant, while giving a possibility of winning (on a scale of 1-10) the contest. Our very own Miss Kalanguka was awarded a 7/10 possibility to win.
Most media outlets have since misled the public by reporting that Leah is on the 7th position in the pageantry. In fact according to Matooke Republic, Leah arrived late in London, (four days after the other contestants had arrived for the competition) and consequently missed out on competitions like Miss Talent and the Sports category that would have helped her garner more marks.
Leah also took part in the World Designer Fashion Competition, Top Model Beach Beauty against girls from 119 other countries. The top 20 girls were chosen and the software engineering student was not among the 20 girls.
