The Makerere University community is in mourning following the devastating news of the untimely passing of Tumwesigye Ezat, a first-year Bachelor of Information Technology student. The 21-year-old student was discovered deceased on Thursday May 2nd after being reported missing earlier.

Ezat was last seen in the vicinity of Makerere, specifically near Sir Apollo Kaggwa Road area close to MBI, on Sunday before his disappearance. His absence prompted a frantic search effort, with concern mounting among friends, family, and the wider community.

In a heart-wrenching announcement on social media, Ezat’s brother, Suhail Mugabi, a prominent journalist with NTV Uganda, confirmed the tragic news of his younger sibling’s demise. Mugabi’s timeline became a platform for an outpouring of condolences and support from individuals deeply affected by the loss.

“Notable figures within Uganda, including Beewol and Sheilla Nduhukire, expressed their sorrow and solidarity with the grieving family, offering prayers and comfort during this difficult time,” said Beewol: “Oh dear God! This is heartbreaking. My condolences to you and the rest of the friends and family of the deceased. 🫂” and Sheilla Nduhukire: “@Suhail_Mugabi Terribly sorry for this terrible outcome, Suhail! Praying for you and your family🤍 May your little brother’s soul RIP 🙏🏾 @Suhail_Mugabi”.

The loss of a young life has reverberated deeply, with many expressing shock and disbelief at the tragic turn of events.

As the family comes to terms with their profound loss, funeral arrangements for Tumwesigye Ezat are yet to be announced. The somber atmosphere at Makerere University serves as a stark reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing each moment.
