As the country continues to celebrate the success and good performance of different schools country – wide in the just released Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) exams, the hive has learned that, the Busiro South Member of Parliament and Super FM CEO, Peter Sematimba is one of those that must be overly excited about their performance.
Sematimba sat these UACE exams last year with other candidates among which were singers Irene Namatovu and Geoffrey Lutaaya in Luwero district. These married singers were reportedly eyeing political positions in the upcoming 2021 elections but of course their dreams would be shuttered minus them attaining an A’ level certificate.
He was doing LAD/ ICT and has managed to scoop a whole lot of 13 points with a balanced distribution of principal passes that are distributed as; General paper C6, Divinity – D, Literature – D, Art – B and computer studies C4.
It should be remembered that Sematimba was in 2016 kicked out of Parliament by High Court Judge Hon. Lady Justice Lydia Mugambe after a petition filed by Democratic Party’s Steven Sekigozi challenged the Busiro South MP over lack of required academic papers.
In his petition, Sekigozi told high court that Sematimba had a certificate that was issued by the East African Examination Council of 1978 which was equivalent to the UACE minimum requirement for one to take part in parliamentary elections.
Sematimba told court that he was given a certificate by National Council for Higher Education which he presented to the Electoral commission during his nomination. And as luck holds it, he was reinstated as Busiro South Member of Parliament by the court of appeal.
In the ruling of Hon. Lady Justice Lydia Mugambe, she decided that Sematimba’s candidature was illegal. However, the Super FM CEO, came out to say in an interview that his papers we’re from United states of America where he pursued his early education and we’re approved by the National Council of Higher Education but he decided to go back and pursue the Advanced level certificate which many Ugandans understand.
Felicitations Honourable Peter Sematimba!
