MTN Uganda CEO, University of South Africa Vice Chancellor to Deliver Keynote Addresses at Makerere’s 75th Graduation Ceremony

Makerere University is gearing up for its 75th Graduation Ceremony, set to commence on Monday, January 13, 2025, with an exceptional lineup of keynote speakers to inspire graduands. Among the distinguished speakers are Ms. Sylvia Mulinge, CEO of MTN Uganda, and Professor Puleng LenkaBula, Vice Chancellor of the University of South Africa, both renowned leaders in their respective fields.

Also addressing the graduates will be Dr. Dorothy Kyeyune, CEO of Mwoyo Experience and a celebrated Rotarian. These accomplished individuals are expected to share insights that resonate with the theme of achievement, innovation, and leadership, setting an inspiring tone for the five-day event.

The 75th graduation introduces a revamped format, with each day dedicated to specific colleges and schools. This approach ensures a more streamlined and organized celebration, accommodating Makerere’s expanding student body.

Notably, Makerere University Business School (MUBS) will have two exclusive days—Thursday, January 16, and Friday, January 17—reflecting its growing impact and prominence within the university.

Graduation Schedule

Day 1: Monday, January 13th

  • College of Education and External Studies (CEES)
  • College of Computing and Information Sciences (CoCIS)
  • College of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Resources, and Bio-Security (CoVAB)
  • School of Law (SoL)

Day 2: Tuesday, January 14th

  • College of Natural Sciences (CoNAS)
  • College of Health Sciences (CHS)
  • College of Business and Management Sciences (CoBAMS)

Day 3: Wednesday, January 15th

  • College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES)
  • College of Engineering, Design, Art, and Technology (CEDAT)
  • College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHUSS)

Day 4: Thursday, January 16th

  • MUBS:
    • Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research
    • Faculty of Business Administration
    • Faculty of Tourism, Hospitality, and Languages
    • Faculty of Marketing and International Business

Day 5: Friday, January 17th

  • MUBS:
    • Faculty of Computing and Informatics
    • Faculty of Management
    • Faculty of Commerce
    • Faculty of Procurement and Logistics Management

With the university preparing to graduate thousands of students, the 75th Graduation Ceremony is a testament to Makerere’s role as a leader in higher education. “I congratulate all the graduands on reaching this significant milestone,” said Professor Nawngwe, emphasizing the importance of this event in recognizing academic excellence and personal achievement.

The inclusion of trailblazing keynote speakers, such as Ms. Mulinge and Professor LenkaBula, ensures that this year’s ceremony will be both memorable and inspiring for the graduands and their families.
