In his response to Ms Nambassa Shamim’s inquiry on the preparedness of staff to conducts physical lectures for all students, Dr Kamunyu said they (MUASA) believe the university leadership has done its best to enable staff implement president Museveni’s directive to have all institutions of higher learning open.
“His excellency the president of the republic of Uganda directed the opening of schools, institutions of higher learning and the whole economy. Therefore, we believe that the university leadership has put in place all mechanisms for academic staff to support implementation of this directive.” Kamunyu wrote.
Following futile negotiations with Vice chancellor Professor Barnabas Nawangwe to fully reopen the university for all students to study physically as opposed to blended learning, Makerere’s guild president Nambassa Shamim held a press conference on Sunday 30th January, 2022 and called upon all students to return to the institution come 5th February, 2022.
