Makerere University Business School (MUBS) 27th guild government has officially assumed office after a swearing in ceremony that was held on Thursday at Silver Springs Hotel, Bugolobi.
The government led by NRM’S Amanya Moses will officially commence work at the start of the next academic year. Amanya succeeds DP’s Waswa Christopher.
The new leadership was advised by the acting principal Prof. Moses Muhwezi to hold itself in high regard, guard themselves against drug abuse, HIV and LGBTQ.
“As new leaders, you must hold yourselves to a high standard of leadership. You must reconfigure yourselves from being ordinary students to leaders and be the center of excellence at MUBS. However, you must know your mandate as Guild. Guard against drug abuse, HIV, LGBTQ and promiscuity,” he said.
The outgoing guild president Waswa Christopher told the new leadership to always seek support and guidance from the administration if they are to succeed.
“As the 26th guild government, our success has mainly been due to the support and guidance from MUBS administration led by the principal Prof Muhwezi. To my successor, I urge you to remain humble and always listen,” he said.
Speaking at the ceremony, MUBS guild legal advisor Mr. Brian Kajubi said they are working on regulations to allow digital voting in the future.
“We are working on the regulations to allow digital/online voting in the future. As guild leadership, you are here to serve three masters: the law, the students who voted for you, and your God,” he said.
Amanya Moses earned a record win for the NRM following an endorsement by Juma Wasswa Balunywa, the then internet’s sensational JWB. Balunywa will serve as the minister for internal affairs in Amanya’s government.
