Makerere University Business School today held its 12th graduation at the Nakawa Campus. The ceremony was held for students who successfully completed their studies during the 2015/ 2016 Academic year on Post graduate Diploma, Diploma and certificate programmes both at MUBS, up-country campuses, Luzira inmates and its affiliated Institutions.
Among the freshly graduated students, the best performers in masters program, degree, certificate were able to walk away with UGX 500,000 after one best male and female were selected from each course. Newly graduated students started being confirmed for their respective course completion as early as 10 am at the University’s play ground.
There was drama at the entrance gate when students and parents were denied to enter with mobile phones. Majority did not feel comfortable leaving their phones at the gate after paying 1k for a single phone. Few guests were spotted roaming outside the gate for a long period trying to weigh options whether to leave their phones at the gate or not.
The Nakawa based University also gave away three outstanding achievement awards to a few influential professors with a four million shillings pay cheque attached for everyone. Among the awarded professors included Prof Mohammed Mgoma and Prof Simon Mwebe. The University also awarded the dead Dr Julius Kakuru whose gift was taken by his widow and other family members.
