Makerere University Business School left Pearl Of Africa Hotel on Friday evening with all the bragging rights after beating their Makerere University counterparts to the National Debate Championship title.

The event was organised by Mobinet, a fintech company under the theme of “Financial technology in Uganda” and it saw competition from 4 Universities. Mukono based Uganda Christian University (UCU) came second while Kyambogo finished 3rd and Makerere had a disappointing evening finishing last in the battle of ideologies.

MUBS, the winning team.

MUBS was represented by Walter Niwagaba, the founder of MUBS Debate Club president and former guild president aspirant, Katura Brandon the serving president and members Massa Kevin, Mugabi Median among other cheer leaders.

A lot of prizes were given out which included laptops and phones for the teams with an all expense paid trip to Dubai awaiting the best debaters of the day from MUBS and UCU.

Speaking to Niwagaba, the founder who also doubles as a 3rd year student at the Nakawa based affiliate says that MUBS has proved to be the best when it comes to debates over years and it was no surprise that they took the trophy home.
