Ms. Rose Nabwire has been elected as the 28th Guild President of Makerere University Business School (MUBS).
She secured the highest number of votes across all faculties in the March 25th elections.
The election marks the end of the tenure of outgoing Guild President Amanya Moses from the National Resistance Movement (NRM), who has served the student community over the past academic year.
The election results reveal Nabwire’s impressive performance, garnering the most votes in nearly every faculty.
Her strongest support came from the Faculty of Business Administration (FOBA), where she received an overwhelming 636 votes, and the Faculty of Commerce (FOC) with 450 votes.
Lukwago Henry from the Uganda Young Democrats (UYD) emerged as her closest competitor, securing 1,242 total votes across faculties.
Other candidates, including Taban Ambaho (NRM), Ssemanda Fred Mawanda, Lakwo Fred Kenneth, and Tasobya Blessed, received significantly fewer votes.
Nabwire’s victory as an independent candidate is particularly noteworthy, having won in 9 out of 10 faculties with a total vote count of 2,255.
The newly elected Guild President will take office in the coming weeks, with expectations high for her leadership and representation of the student community at MUBS.
