The things that happen behind the closed gates of every hostel are the very kind that would compel all parents to hire personal body guards for their daughters.
This student (names withheld) last weekend with two other fresher friends at around 10pm went to visit a boys’ room in Akamwesi Hostel, Nakawa. This room, according to residents, is famous for frequently hosting parties and is always stoked with alcohol and all sorts of intoxicants. After exchanging pleasantries, the two escorts abruptly got calls, leaving her [victim] behind together with the [two] hosts.
The night was still young and drinks started flowing.
The boys, according to the victim’s friends, drugged the drinks and after a few bottles, the heights took control of the first year girl and there she lay on the room balcony high, in cloud nine- innocently enjoying her heights whilst half asleep. The equally high boys tried thought it was the right time to have a ‘devil’s’ threesome.
From here followed the scuffle as the boys tried to pull her to the bed and unbuttoning her tight jeans amidst resistance. The girl, according to her pals, put up quite a fight and since they [boys] were high too, they ran out of gas and as they took a break from the coercion. The heights instantly cleared and she reached for her phone calling the two friends of hers who had left to come for her rescue. The girls responded instantly and that’s how she survived the hyenas.
While narrating the ordeal to her friends, she despite continued advice, refused to open up a police case because she feels she has no evidence to pin the boys.
Note to campus girls: to avoid being drugged at house parties, please Don’t leave your drink unattended! Treat your drink like your constitution! Don’t let anyone hold your drink. Avoid anything that somebody gives you. It could be drugged. Always hold, keep and get your own drinks. Never stay in a room full of strangers alone. Tag along with your friends and never lose them.
Keep your hand over the top of your drink because it’s easy to drop something into it. Do not accept a drink from a date unless the bartender or waitstaff delivers it straight to you. Even if you’re pretty sure the drink you left on the other side of the room was your drink, it’s a much safer bet to buy or get another one.
