The journey to choose the next Guild President of MUBS started rather on a low and boring mood at the Nakawa based University. The electoral commission yesterday received nominations of different guild president aspirants Arthur Basasira of NRM, FDC’s Matovu Jorum and Uganda Young Democrats’ Amos Kasigwa. The other aspirant a one Hilary doing a Bachelors in Commerce was denied nomination after it was established he had three retakes. The other nominations held were on those aspiring to be different course GRCs.
Its either a pending death of MUBS politics or its the students that are fast- losing out on the love for the University politics. During the nominations of the Guild presidential aspirants, the grounds were not even filled with close to 50 people as only few supporters of the different camps turned up. By the time open rally campaigns begun, there was only a hand-full of supporters sighted as majority students retired to their hostels and other went about with their lectures.
‘The politics of MUBS is now boring and the campaigns are no-longer captivating as before’ lammented a thrid year BCom student.
