As the new academic year begins, the Makerere University Business School (MUBS) has officially welcomed its incoming students, with a strong message of discipline, focus, and responsible innovation from the institution’s leadership.
Addressing the freshers, MUBS Principal, Prof. Moses Muhwezi, encouraged them to remain steadfast in their academic and personal goals, reminding them that success depends on both hard work and ethical conduct.
“As you embark on your academic journey, maintain discipline and focus on your scholarly objectives,” Prof. Muhwezi said. “Utilize wisdom and artificial intelligence judiciously. Success is attainable both within and beyond the university.”
He also extended words of encouragement to students facing personal or academic challenges, urging them to seek help rather than suffer in silence.
“To students facing challenges, we advise diligence and perseverance. Abstain from destructive behaviors such as substance abuse and immoral lifestyles. Our doors are open; do not hesitate to seek assistance when needed,” he added.
The principal emphasized that MUBS values not only intellectual excellence but also character development, describing the university as a community that nurtures innovation, leadership, and social responsibility.
“We celebrate your presence and wish you a productive and memorable stay at MUBS,” Prof. Muhwezi concluded.
The orientation week, which continues throughout the first week of November, features sessions on academic integrity, digital literacy, student welfare, and mental health awareness — preparing new entrants for a holistic and transformative university experience.
