Four prime suspects are being held in custody at Buwenge central police station in Jinja over robbing a foreigner.
The four allegedly robbed a one Quentin Perie Jolu, a French national at the ongoing Nyege-Nyege festival 2022.
Among the the suspects is Walker Enyonyozi, a student of Makerere University Business School-MUBS Jinja campus.
Walker was arrested together with Eddy Ssekamwa, John Kasule and Abdul Sseguya after Quentin claimed they hit and robbed him of his property.
Quentin had been rescued by police and red cross that found him lying helplessly at the banks of the Nile at Itanda.
He (Quentin) was rushed to Butagaya health center III, from where he identified his attackers upon regaining his mind.
Though the suspects confessed to having robbed at events such as Nyege Nyege, they denied attacking Quentin.
According to Kiira Regional Police Spokesperson James Mubi, Quentin lost 1500USD, an iPhone, warrant credit card, among other valuables to robbers.
Police is working tirelessly to recover Quentin’s robbed property.
The Bee has learnt that quite a number of revelers, especially foreigners, have filed cases of robbery at the ongoing festival.
The 2022 Nyege Nyege festival is expected to close on Monday September 19th, 2022.
