Mellisa Amanya pursuing a bachelors in Human Resource management at Makerere Business School beat 6 others last night to be crowned Miss Tourism Kigezi region 2017.
The event was held at White Horse Inn Kabale where Birungi Jannat and Natukunda Fortunate came as 2nd and 1st runners up respectively.
20-year-old Amanya will have to battle it out with several queens from other Regions of Buganda, Rwenzori, East, West Nile, North, Karamoja, Busoga, Teso and Bunyoro.
All these over 12 queens will contest at the Miss Tourism 2017 Grand Finale where the finest will stand out as Miss Tourism Uganda 2017.
This beauty contest was started under the auspices of the Late Hon Maria Mutagamba(RIP) when She was the Minister of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities 2012-2016.
The pageant is currently run by her children in her memorial.
