The Makerere University Business School (MUBS) Muslim community and the general campus fraternity were overwhelmed by shock when one of their colleagues died during prayers at the campus mosque. Ibrahim Balabyeki was a final year student of Bachelors of Science in Accounting (BSA) and a staunch Muslim.
Hailing from Gayaza in the outskirts of Kampala town, the late Balabyeki had just made 23 years in June and was looking forward to completing his university education in May next year. There has not been any post mortem results to clarify his real cause of death since he just passed on during prayers in a very mysterious way.
According to the MUBS guild minister for Justice and Constitutional affairs Ms Lilian Namaganda, the deceased was among the participants in a “Clean and Green Campaign” that is on going at the campus and after today’s general cleaning, he passsed by the mosque to pray and while there he breathed his last.
According to Ms Namaganda, the late Balabyeki looked or rather behaved like he was in a good condition as he took part in the general cleaning before deciding to pass by the Mosque to pray.
She added that he unfortunately didn’t end the prayers alive but for any believers, the late Balabyeki must be in a good place right now, Insha Allah!
Following Muslim tradition, the deceased will be buried today at his ancestral home in Gayaza.
We stand with the general MUBS fraternity and the loved ones of the deceased in this trying moment, and from Campus Bee, may the deceased find rest in the Lord.
