Kampala — Makerere University Business School (MUBS) student Nabwire Rose has formally declared her intention to contest for the 36th Presidency of the Uganda National Students’ Association (UNSA), placing MUBS once again at the centre of national student leadership politics.
In a bold Presidential Declaration of Intent, Nabwire presented herself as a disciplined, service-minded leader shaped by her time at MUBS and committed to building what she calls “A Vibrant UNSA.”
Nabwire, who has been active in student leadership and mentorship spaces, said her candidature is inspired by the need to create a student body that listens, protects learners’ rights, and amplifies the voices of young people across Uganda’s education system.
“I stand proudly, as a student of Makerere University Business School shaped in mind, strengthened in discipline and committed to servant leadership,” her declaration reads.
“I rise with purpose to build a vibrant UNSA where every learner in Uganda feels valued, empowered and free to dream without limits.”
She stressed that her aspiration is not just about occupying office but driving a renewed movement of youth leadership grounded in resilience, courage, and unity.
“This is more than leadership; it is a charge to lift every voice, protect every dream and move every learner forward,” she said. “We rise together united, vibrant, unstoppable.”
If elected, Nabwire would join a growing line of MUBS students who have made strong bids for national student leadership positions, reinforcing MUBS’ reputation as a training ground for young leaders.
Her platform focuses on inclusivity, strengthening student representation, pushing for better welfare policies in institutions, and building nationwide learner engagement through UNSA structures.
Nabwire closed her declaration with a pledge of commitment and service:
“I choose to lead with vision, passion and unwavering commitment to every learner in Uganda.”
The UNSA elections are expected to attract candidates from universities, secondary schools, and tertiary institutions across the country, making it one of the most competitive student races of the year.
